According to the AMAR Home`s treatment program, after the client got his stability, the focus of the treatment is on the processes of how the choice of drugs leave the body and treating the withdrawal symptoms. Detox is not a full treatment for drug addiction, no matter what the drug of choice one have. Because addiction is both psychological, physical and behavioral in nature, it is imperative that patients undergo psycho-therapeutic treatment to address the issues of cravings and several parts of the brain is altered by chronic abuse of the substance. Detox may help the patient to stop abusing drugs and alcohol, but without the core program, follow-up and after care relapse will soon follow and a return to practicing previous addiction is rarely far away.
