Citizen Legislator is a non-partisan, non-profit, national organization promoting the ratification of a constitutional amendment to limit federal congressional terms, in order to enhance the quality of government and to encourage participation by its citizens. It is the belief of the organization that term limits can accomplish many of the goals campaign finance reform has failed to address, that it can do so within the limits of the allowable parameters of the constitution, and in a manner that benefits the nation rather than its elected political incumbents. U.S. congressional term limits has been a promise that has been made to the American people for more than two decades, yet it has not come about on a national level. If ratified, the proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution would limit the number of terms that a federal Representative of Senator may serve in office to three terms for a Representative, and two for a Senator. Featured on the site is information, and a sign-up form, for those who are interested in volunteering to help with the grassroots effort, or who wish to make a contribution toward that end. A congressional directory allows United States federal lawmakers to be found through an interactive map, by zip code, or by state, and letters in support of this amendment may be sent to congress through an online form.
